If you do not know your prescription, you can visit your local optician or optometrist and ask them to conduct an eye test. When you are finished, be sure to ask for a copy of your full prescription, including your PD (pupillary distance)
Eye tests are available at most opticians, however please be aware that not all opticians offer one-time eye tests. Please make sure that your eye test is comprehensive (which should include the use of an eye chart) and that you leave with all of the relevant information:
The sphere (S, SF or SPH) and/or cylinder value of each eye (C or CYL).
If there is a cylinder value, then there must also be an axis value (A, As, AXI, AXS or AXIS).
The pupillary distance (PD) - the distance between the centre points of both pupils.
No need to worry! Sometimes, opticians will omit this from a prescription to make it more difficult for you to buy online (terrible, right?).
If you can a printer, you can download and use our PD measurement ruler. You can find it here.
Otherwise, it's best to (sternly!) ask your optician for this info.
Firstly choose the frame style you like. You will see on the frame's page a small box with "Prescription" written beside it. Simply tick this box and options will appear.
You can either:

Please note that prescription orders are limited to two pairs per order.
If your prescription falls outside the limits of each frame, we will still happily make a pair to suit at an extra cost of just €30. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to help!
Yes we do! Once you click "Prescription", you'll be shown another selection of lens options which includes bifocals and progressives.
Yes, all our glasses are unisex and are designed to fit 99% of head sizes. In the unlikely event they don't fit quite right, please visit our adjustments & repairs page. We also offer free 30 day returns & exchanges.
Choosing a new pair of glasses can be daunting, especially if it's your first time. For first time glasses wearers, we suggest going for a shape you would usually choose when wearing sunglasses. You can compare frame dimensions with a pair of sunglasses you already have by looking at the numbers printed on the inside arm of the frame. We also have a virtual try-on function that allows you to see what the frames look like on your face. Additionally we offer free 30 day returns & exchanges if you're not 100% happy with your frame choice!
If you're from Ireland, you can find our glasses in Brown Thomas Dublin. However, for everyone else it's not possible to try them on physically - but virtually is almost as good! Our Virtual Mirror uses augmented reality to give you an accurate idea of how the frames will look! It also works a treat on mobile.
Should the glasses not work out, we also offer you a 30-day free refund policy. It's risk-free!
We've tried our Ambr glasses with most brands of over-ear headphones, and it has always been perfectly comfortable. The glasses legs are not too thick and sit behind most ears very comfortable. Your headphones should be absolutely fine to use.
Most of our frame legs are slightly longer than standard leg lengths at 145mm. However, some people will find that this isn't quite long enough. Don't panic though, it's quite easy to rectify. You can simply adjust the 'elbow' of the legs by straightening it and making it less-pronounced until the desired fit is reached. This is how an optician would handle the very same issue. We don't suggest doing this yourself however, as opticians have professional equipment to deal with these adjustments. We suggest visiting our Adjustments & Repairs page for more info on this.
We will ship to the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe for free by standard delivery. If you would like express delivery, it will be extra. Shipping costs for outside these regions will be shown on checkout.
Please visit our Returns & Exchanges page for all information.
In many countries (you can check your government's website for more info), employees who are exposed to long screen hours are entitled to have protective eyewear provided to them by the employer. If you fit this description, you can tell your employer that you require blue light blocking lenses for your work and they may be obliged to reimburse you for your Ambr Eyewear glasses.
While our glasses are reimbursable through vision insurance, we don't work directly with any insurance providers. If your vision plan covers prescription glasses then Ambr Eyewear glasses should be reimbursable.
However, if you’re purchasing non-prescription lenses, sleep glasses, or sunglasses, we recommend following-up with your vision care provider to confirm if (a) they cover blue-light-blocking glasses and (b) if there is a minimum magnification required for reimbursement.
If there are any issues with reimbursement, reach out to email@example.com to request a more detailed invoice.
Ambr Eyewear glasses can be covered through your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) as most providers reimburse for blue light blocking lenses. After purchasing, you will receive an email receipt which will act as your document for reimbursement. If you require a more detailed invoice, simply reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Yes, our non-prescription computer glasses are perfect for people who've never worn glasses before, or aren't short/long sighted.
Ambr glasses are for anyone who spends a large amount of time using screens for work or leisure. We've got multiple devices these days so it's inevitable that prolonged screen use is becoming an issue to eye health. These glasses are perfect for designers, journalists, accountants, students or even people who are fond of a Netflix binge watch!
Yes! You can choose the "Add Prescription" option. You will then have a choice of uploading a picture of your prescription, or entering manually using the dropdown menus provided.
All the information on our prescription offering can be found below under the "Prescription" heading.
Yes! Ambr glasses work great with contact lenses and provide extra protection from the blue light on your screen. The glasses should help against your contact lenses becoming dry and uncomfortable.
Firstly, we've seen competitors charge far high prices for far inferior products. We believe in fair margins so that keeps our costs down.
Secondly, our glasses offer triple protection. Blue light filters that are integrated inside the lens will reflect and absorb over 55% of harmful blue light wavelengths, fighting the symptoms of digital eyestrain. We provide a premium anti-reflective coating too, which most opticians charge for approximately €40-50 extra! The AR coating stops distracting light being reflecting in the lens, improving vision acuity. Our glasses are also scratch & smudge resistance to protect against little bumps and bruises.
Thirdly, our glasses use the latest technology to ensure that the tint is very, very minimal - to the point of almost unnoticeable. This means that they look super stylish and don't effect your perception of colours - perfect for designers. We feel Ambr glasses strike the perfect balance between aesthetic appeal, clarity and blue light protection.
Our glasses block over 55% of blue light, which is enough to relieve the symptoms of digital eye strain that are affecting us. This ratio of blue light blocking allows our lenses to be clear and stylish, while still offering strong protection.
Some competitors offer computer glasses that have deep yellow/orange tints. (we sell those too - see our Ultrarange) As stated above, the tint in our blue light range glasses is so minimal that it is unnoticeable. You may only notice it when you stare at a cloudy sky on a bright day, or place the glasses' lens over a sheet of white paper. For people who need optimum colour perception on their screens, our blue light range are perfect. Besides, who wants to be wearing glasses that look like something from the Star Trek Enterprise.
Yes! Ambr Eyewear lenses block about 90% of UV rays too, meaning they provide you with protection from nature, as well as screens!
Every pair of our glasses comes with a protective hard case and microfibre cloth. Regular cleaning and always keeping them in the case will ensure a long-lasting pair of glasses. Top tip, don't wear them on top of your head, this will stretch out the legs and make them loose!
In short, the Ultra range is more powerful than the regular Screen range. Our Ultra glasses block almost 100% of blue light. However, in order to block this amount of blue light, it is necessary for lenses to have deep yellow tint.
Our Ultra range is mainly targeted towards blocking the wavelengths of blue light that affect melatonin production. They will also provide extra-strong protection from the shorter wavelengths linked to strain, migraine and even macular degeneration. While our regular Screen glasses will positively affect sleep, our Ultra range will have a more powerful impact.
We suggest using them in the evening time, about 2-3 hours before bed. However, the Ultra glasses are completely safe to use at any time of the day if you wish. Their polarised lenses will lessen glare, so they can be also used for night driving.
Our Transition glasses work by becoming activated by UV rays. Exposure to UV will cause a reaction that darkens the lenses. When they are activated, the glasses will provide more protection than when they are deactivated. This means they are suitable to protect you from the sun when you step outside. When the glasses are deactivated (not exposed to UV light), they will become clear and look just like regular specs! To summarise, our Transition lenses give you the ability to have both regular glasses and sunglasses in the same frames.
Yes, when deactivated (inside) the glasses will provide you with considerable protection from high-energy blue light wavelengths. You can find a graph that displays the level of protection in more detail here.
We use Transitions Xtractive lenses, which are considered the best and most advanced photochromic lenses on the market. These lenses are known for their rapid transitioning, and will take about 60 seconds to turn into sunglasses when exposed to sunlight. They do take a little longer to deactivate, but this will depend on the brightness of the room. If you find that they are deactivating too slowly, simply pop them in their case for about 5-10 minutes and they should come out totally clear.
Yes. If you work under harsh fluorescent lighting, you may notice that the glasses take quite a while to deactivate, or may not fully deactivate at all. This is an unavoidable issue. On the plus side however, a slightly activated lens may make it easier to work under such lighting.
We use an advanced new technology that allows our Transition range to become colourful and vibrant shades when they activate. To do this, we use a base lens that's dark grey in colour. We then add on the colour coating of your choice. This colour coating is not visible when the glasses are deactivated. But when the dark grey lens is activated, the colour you've chosen becomes visible with a mirror effect.
Besides from the polarisation that eliminates glare, Ambr Eyewear sunglasses have UV420 protection. Most sunglasses will only provide up to UV400, but we aim to give you protection from high-energy blue light in addition to ultra-violet protection. You can find a detailed graph showing the protection range here.
Yes, we're happy to provide customisable lenses to all our customers. Simply choose the frame you'd like, and you can then choose from regular colours dark grey and brown; or else something funkier like mirrored green, gold, silver, pink or blue!
Yes! We can provide prescriptions, even especially high ones, for all our sunglasses. We can even fulfil multifocal orders.
